I popped in on the NBA Crossover event at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday February 13th to check out one of the many NBA All Star weekend events.

Overall, it was a great event and I’m happy I went. It had lots of basketball related games, a lot to do for kids, many vendors selling cool merch and even a couple of places to grab drinks and food…and of course a concert!

At first, parking in the $40 parking lot kind of rubbed me wrong since I had to also pay $50 to get into the convention center. I was also surprised by the mostly empty parking lot and no lines to get inside. The event was not as populated as I would’ve expected for such a cool event but I guess it was to my benefit since I was able to enjoy everything inside without fighting crowds.
We started by stopping by the Michelob section where they sold low alcohol drinks for $10-12. And they had five basketball mini games to play while enjoying your drink or watching the activities on stage. There was a little lounge inside on top of a cool hardwood floor.
Then we stopped by the carnival game to see if we could win a stuffed animal (free to play). Even though I put up a lot of hoops on my free time, I fell short here missing six times! That hoop must be either shaped weird or a little taller than normal…it’s the typical carnival setup but I did see other people win.

Next stop was the celebrity all-star 3 point contest. We were able to get fairly close to see the activities. State Farm sponsored this two-round format contest with six participants. Oklahoma City Thunder rookie guard Jared McCain (the only active NBA player) led the opening round with 11 points, followed by popular Twitch streamer and hip-hop content creator PlaqueBoyMax with 9, former NBA forward and current ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson with 7, professional BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester with 7, comedian and social media personality Druski with 5, and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams with 4; the top two advanced to the finals, where McCain won with 12 points over PlaqueBoyMax’s 10. Hats off to PlaqueBoyMax though for keeping it close with an active NBA players.

And of course Jake from State Farm was there.
After the event, pop star JuJu had an appearance along with some others during the day including Baron Davis, former NBA player and current NBA player Dalton Knecht.
There were many vendors to stroll around and see their unique take on NBA merch and of course there were a few food spots to fuel up
The night was capped by a performance by the DJs Two Friends and then Ludacris.

Ludacris highlighted his amazing resume of songs along his friend the DJ. It was the same set I saw at Cali Vibes. Everyone had a good time and there were a lot of people in the crown moving to the tunes.
The event ended at 11pm and if you were still interested in continuing the night you had no shortfall of options being in downtown LA. We stopped at the Yardhouse after and it was packed…but there was also an MS Banda concert letting out at the Crypto arena.
I’m glad I went to this event and I’d recommend going but this was a one time event and the NBA rotates locations.
